Aston Villa’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro is reportedly still alive, but Spurs appear determined to keep hold of the Spanish defender.

Porro has become an important part of Tottenham’s plans and recently committed his future to the North London club with a new long-term contract. Reports have also indicated that Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi considers the defender an important member of his squad.

Villa’s reported interest comes as Unai Emery continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign. The club are looking to strengthen several areas, although their transfer activity has been affected by financial regulations and the need to balance incoming and outgoing deals.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have invested heavily in their squad this summer and appear reluctant to lose another key player. Porro’s ability to contribute both defensively and in attack makes him particularly valuable to De Zerbi’s system.

There has been wider transfer interest in the Spain international, with Barcelona and Manchester City also reportedly monitoring his situation. However, Tottenham’s recent decision to extend his contract underlines how highly the club value him.

For Aston Villa, any attempt to sign Porro would therefore be extremely difficult. Unless Tottenham change their stance or receive an offer that seriously tests their resolve, Porro is expected to remain at Spurs.

Villa’s interest may continue to be monitored, but for now, Tottenham’s message appears clear: Pedro Porro is not a player they want to lose.
