Kurt Zouma, the captain of West Ham United, has finally spoken to the supporters after remaining silent during our dreadful performance.

Kurt Zouma has been a very bad player for West Ham this season. The Frenchman’s silence following our losses to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest has infuriated some Hammers supporters.

Zouma was named captain by Hammers manager David Moyes at the beginning of the season, following Declan Rice’s departure from the London Stadium to join Arsenal.

At the time, it felt like the incorrect decision, but it appears that the former Chelsea defender lacks the fortitude to carry the armband as captain.

In addition to the criticism Zouma has received from West Ham supporters for his subpar play this season, many of us have also taken issue with the way the 29-year-old has led the team.

At last, Zouma expressed his opinion and emphasised his belief that the Hammers will resume their winning ways.

WHUFC.com quotes the Frenchman as saying that he also freely admitted that his commercial methods do not conform to those of the traditional captain:

He clarified, “I captain my way and I don’t talk a lot outside.” We are a knowledgeable group that communicates well with one another, so we are aware of our mistakes and areas for improvement. In actuality, we’re all close knit, travelling in the same direction, and we want to support one another. A leader does not have to yell to be recognised. We have grown into adults and realise our mistakes, therefore we must work together to improve. We are no longer children. Nobody desires to fail.

It’s true that everyone wants to score, win, and have fun, but that’s the reality. As a team, West Ham hasn’t played at its best since the start of the season, but sometimes things don’t go your way. Hopefully, we’ll return to our true selves and demonstrate our strengths in the locker room.

Kurt’s tone is definitely a little bit passive-aggressive there. We’re not saying he ought to start yelling and screaming at his teammates.

Still, it would be great to hear our captain, like Declan Rice and Mark Noble did before him, speak following such devastating losses.

To be a successful captain, players must possess a wide range of qualities. A lot of things go unreported behind the scenes occasionally, or instances occur on the pitch when the captain speaks quietly with the referee after observing rotational fouls committed by the opposition—small stuff like that.

Kurt Zouma hasn’t performed that duty for West Ham this season. Leading the supporters and the media following significant losses is another important responsibility of a captain.

The 29-year-old simply never ought to have been named captain in my opinion. I think Moyes made a terrible decision, and I firmly feel that the Scot needs to make amends by changing things very soon.
