Kieran McKenna has announced that wingers Nathan Broadhead and Wes Burns will be absent for Ipswich Town’s match against Plymouth Argyle this coming weekend.
The wide receivers Burns and Broadhead for Ipswich Town have been essential to their success in the Championship. The wingers have been McKenna’s go-to guys on the wings most of the time after helping the Tractor Boys achieve promotion from League One.
This season, Broadhead has played in 33 games in all competitions with 11 goals and 4 assists, while Burns, a teammate from Wales, has played in 32 games with 5 goals and 2 assists.
But this coming weekend, when Ipswich Town takes on Plymouth Argyle, neither will be adding to their total.
Prior to the match, Town manager McKenna disclosed to the media that both of the Welsh wingers had strained muscles. Consequently, neither will be able to travel to Home Park, where they hope to win the league five times in a row.
In their absence
Ipswich Town is hurting without Broadhead and Burns, but they have a lot of other talented players on the pitch who can step in for them. Omari Hutchinson will welcome the opportunity to join McKenna’s starting lineup because of his recent stellar play.
It will be interesting to see who gets the nod since Marcus Harness and Jeremy Sarmiento will also be competing for a spot in the side.
Hopefully, at least, Broadhead and Burns won’t be missed too much thanks to the replacements. However, it is hoped that neither will be absent for an extended period of time. Both are essential to Ipswich Town’s campaign for promotion to the Premier League and will be sorely missed if sidelined for protracted periods of time.
As it stands, Ipswich Town is ranked third in the Championship standings. With 12 games left, they are tied for second position with Ipswich Town and six points behind leaders Leicester City.
