Ipswich Town is still working towards promotion.
Although Kieran McKenna’s club had had an incredible start to the season, a mid-season stumble allowed Leeds and Southampton to catch up, and many observers believed they would run out of gas in the race for a top two finish.
But thanks to their convincing victory at Home Park and Leeds’ draw at Huddersfield, they are back on track. Ipswich now sits in second place.
There will be plenty of football to be played in the upcoming months, of course, but there will also be hope for the Tractor Boys to persevere.
Kieffer Moore from AFC Bournemouth should be signed permanently by Ipswich Town.
Although this incredible run has been the result of a true team effort, Kieffer Moore’s presence has undoubtedly given Ipswich a significant lift.
With his goal against Argyle, the 31-year-old striker, who arrived from Bournemouth on loan during the winter transfer window, reached five goals in seven games.
“It looks like a great aspiration to have,” Henry told Football League World.
“He’s come and fit the bill, he’s done absolutely superbly. The upturn in form has correlated with him being in the side.
“The pre-Christmas form – the one win in nine – I think you can probably lay a lot on George Hirst’s injury and not having a like-for-like replacement.
“(Kayden) Jackson and (Freddie) Ladapo – unfortunately – aren’t the mould of striker that we need as a team, and their quality doesn’t quite match with where the team wants to be.
“Five goals in seven games, an assist, and his link up play has been fantastic. He also works off the ball and occupies other defenders, which allows space for others.
“(Conor) Chaplin and (Nathan) Broadhead have played well, and Wes Burns is back among the goals, which I think Moore has had a lot to do with.
“If he is available, I think it would be great, that experienced player alongside Hirst, that could be quite a potent front two – we should definitely look to explore it.”
Long-term prospects for Kieffer Moore
Despite Moore’s excellent run with Ipswich, the Cherries were content to let him go on loan during the January transfer window. It would be shocking if they didn’t approve a sale in the summer.
Andoni Iraola now has two senior options up top after Dominic Solanke had a stellar season and Enes Unal was signed as a backup.
Moore is aware that he must depart in order to receive consistent playing time, and since the target player’s contract only runs until the summer of 2025, it won’t cost a substantial amount of money to get him to leave.
Ipswich will wait until the summer to make a decision, and their transfer intentions will undoubtedly be impacted by whether they are promoted or not.
