WREXHAM bounced back from a tough month in style but Jacob Mendy knows the players can’t rest on their laurels and must build on a fantastic win. Results were mixed during a frantic February when the games came thick and fast but Phil Parkinson’s side still remained in the League Two promotion picture.

The competition for a top-three finish is fierce and the Reds began March with a brilliant 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley at The Racecourse on Saturday when all the goals came in the first-half.

Wrexham are up to third in the table, three points behind leaders Mansfield Town and on the same tally as second placed Stockport County, and two ahead of Crewe Alexandra and MK Dons who sit fourth and fifth respectively.

With 11 matches remaining, the Reds are well-placed in the quest for a second successive promotion and Mendy, who earned the plaudits for his display against Accrington in the left wing-back role on his return to the side, stressed the importance of trying to make it back-to-back wins at Morecambe on Saturday.

“I am happy to be back in the team and have a performance like that,” said Mendy.

“We knew what we had to do against Accrington. We came into the game off the back of a tough February but there are still plenty of games to play and we know what we are capable of.

“It is very tight up there but we are going to fight right until the end of the season.

“Not just for promotion but to try and win the league as well, so every goal counts and every clean sheet counts.

“We have got to keep it going and look to build on this win at Morecambe, and hopefully get the three points again.

“We have been through ups and downs but we know we have got the fans supporting us all the time.
