Oliver Glasner is rumoured to be interested in signing a “dangerous” new player this summer from Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace is settling in under Oliver Glasner’s direction.
After a challenging start to the year under previous manager Roy Hodgson, Selhurst Park has had a busy 2024. Following crushing Premier League losses to Arsenal, Brighton, and Chelsea, the Eagles and Hodgson made the decision to part company last month. Glasner joined the team and won his first game against Burnley.
In his second match, the Austrian led his team to a 1-0 lead against the top-four contenders, Tottenham, with little over fifteen minutes remaining. However, Palace ultimately lost 3-1 against them. “It’s a disappointing result but a performance that gives us confidence and hope for the next weeks,” Glasner stated in a post-game interview. With eight points above the relegation zone, Palace is expected to play in the premier league the next season. As a result, transfer rumours have already surfaced, despite Manchester United’s interest in sporting director Dougie Freedman’s connections.
Eyeing a Bright Osayi-Samuel move, Crystal Palace
Over the past 48 hours, there have been reports in Turkey indicating that Crystal Palace is among the teams considering a summer transfer to recruit Bright Osayi-Samuel of Fenerbahce.
With three goals in 14 league games while switching to a right-back, he is “having the best scoring period of his career” and drawing interest from the Eagles, Wolves, Leeds United, and Rennes, among other Premier League teams. Prior to this, Fenerbahce turned down a €10 million bid for Osayi-Samuel, who has a 2025 contract.
The Nigerian international Osayi-Samuel played for Queens Park Rangers in England prior to moving to Fenerbahce in 2021. He was labelled as a “dangerous” player by his manager Mark Warburton at QPR, where he played with Eberechi Eze, who praised Osayi-Samuel in 2020 by stating, “Me and Bright weren’t in the same school team.” Our district teams were the same. Osayi-Samuel is therefore someone to keep an eye on since Palace and Glasner may view him as a long-term successor for Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne. He may also provide a more attacking option when required.
