After sustaining a muscle injury during Coventry City’s 2-1 victory over Watford, Mark Robins is crossing his fingers that Victor Torp won’t be sidelined for too long.
After missing six weeks due to a hamstring rupture, Ben Sheaf made a welcome comeback to replace the Sky Blues midfielder in the 58th minute.
Following the victory at Vicarage Road, which resulted in the dismissal of his opponent Valerien Ismael, Robins commented, “I hope that Torpy is okay, but I don’t know yet.”
“However, he needs a rest again, so Ben’s return provides us more, and Kels’ (Liam Kelly) half-game performance indicates he’s fresh. I think people appear lanky at this time of year.
“Thankfully, Ben Sheaf and the medical staff have worked hard to get to this point. It was great to have him on the bench to come on and do what he did and if we didn’t have him available.”
“A lot of squad injuries occur across the nation, putting you in a situation where you can be behind and not have as much energy as you used to have,” he continued. It occasionally affects things because the league is so much better this season in terms of the calibre of the teams, and you have to play at a higher level to win games.
The international break, which starts after the FA Cup quarterfinal against Premier League Wolves next weekend, is when Robins is expecting to have Jamie Allen back.
