With the striker in the starting lineup, Wrexham continued their incredible run, and Ollie Palmer feels that he is benefiting from his patience.
With their comeback victory over Morecambe on Saturday, the Dragons maintained their third-place standing in League Two.
Palmer has started all of Wrexham’s league games this season, and the win keeps them unbeaten in that regard as well.
When asked about the record, Palmer responded, “Not just this season.”
He continued: “It’s good to be involved, I know my role within the team.”
Wrexham stay third after comeback win at Morecambe
Palmer made his 17th league start of the 2023–24 season at Morecambe, and Wrexham has won all of those games.
Since the forward took the field in the first 42 league games, the Dragons have not lost, dating back to a 1-0 loss against Notts County in October 2022.
Palmer, 32, also thinks that his impressive record has been maintained because of a month he spent recovering from an injury during the holiday season.
“Everyone wants to play but we’ve got a big squad,” he stated.
“With hindsight maybe it’s been nice to have a bit of a rest to come back flying and trying to help the team as much as I can now.”
At Morecambe, Wrexham secured all three points thanks to goals from Paul Mullin, James McClean, and Steven Fletcher, following an early lead for the hosts from Ged Garner.
Wrexham had only triumphed once in their previous seven League Two away games before to this victory.
Palmer, though, seems unconcerned about the talk about Wrexham’s difficulties away from home this season.
“I don’t think our away form is as bad as people make out,” he said.
“Obviously, we want to be right up there if you’re going to call ourselves one of the best teams in the league, but we’re probably seventh or eighth in the [away] form table, which is not terrible.
We are aware that we need to improve that if we are to reach our desired destination.
“We have fantastic home form, but you can’t have everything.”
On Tuesday night, Wrexham will play Harrogate Town at the Racecourse.
Having won 13 of the 17 League Two games played on their own field this season, Parkinson’s team has the greatest home record in the fourth division.
Palmer also adds that the Wrexham team can enjoy the final ten games of the regular season.
“A big 10 games to go and it’s really important that everyone stays tuned in and fit,” he stated.
