Cameron Carter-Vickers is scheduled to make a comeback this weekend, according to Brendan Rodgers, who broke some fantastic midweek news. The American defender received the all-clear following a scan.
The Irishman did, however, disclose that Luis Palma will not play in the match against St Johnstone and won’t rejoin the team until after the international break, in addition to Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate, who are also out.
“Luis Palma was always going to be after the international break [for a return]@,” Rodgers said on Celtic TV.
This season, the Honduran has made 34 appearances for Celtic, tallying an outstanding 11 goals and grabbing 12 assists. Although Luis has his detractors, he can be a very dangerous offensive threat when he’s in his element.
When it comes to the SPFL, Celtic needs everyone to be on their game. Two weeks ago, the boys lost the chance to reclaim the top spot after failing to take advantage of an error made by the Ibrox club.
We need every player healthy and prepared to contribute as the season draws to a close, but we haven’t had many of those this year. Throughout Brendan Rodgers’ comeback season, there have been numerous injuries to important players, but we have often been patched up.
As he recovers from the setback on the training ground, Luis will have to watch from the stands. Celtic supporters will be hoping Daizen Maeda can build on his hat-trick against Livingston by putting in more devastating performances like that.
On Saturday, Celtic Park will host St Johnstone before the domestic match is postponed due to an international break. When Celtic play again, they travel to Livingston and then play at Ibrox in what is expected to be a powderkeg match.
Celtics supporters are currently crossing their fingers and toes in hopes that Luis Palma, Callum McGregor, and Reo Hatate will return.
