PHIL PARKINSON hailed Jack Marriott after the striker scored a quickfire hat-trick in Wrexham reserves’ 7-1 win against a youthful Salford City in the Central League fixture.
“Jack got a hat-trick inside five minutes,” said Parkinson. “I don’t think I have ever seen anything quite like it.
Sam Dalby, who partnered Marriott in attack, netted a brace with Jordan Tunnicliffe and Jordan Davies also on the scoresheet, with Wrexham leading 5-1 at half-time.
“It was about a lot of the senior boys getting some game-time and our goalscorers getting goals.
“It was a really good work-out for the lads and a good day’s work. Everyone came out of it fine.”
O’Connor made his comeback from a minor foot fracture as a late substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 derby defeat to Tranmere Rovers and was passed fit after picking up a knock in the League Two clash while McClean, currently serving a two-match ban, was also involved.
“Tom got 60 minutes and we got some minutes into James McClean as well because we want to keep him going so that was good for him,” added Parkinson.
“All-round, we got what we wanted out of the exercise.”
