Chris Jack claims that Alex Lowry may be leaving Rangers this summer following a lackluster loan stint.
Lowry, an academy graduate, “faces an uncertain future” at Ibrox after his loan term at Hearts was cut short during the January transfer window, according to a Journalist report for the Rangers Review on March 26.
Jack said last week that Leon King might leave the squad “for the good of his career,” making Lowry the most recent first-team player to be linked to a summer departure from the Rangers.
Jack continued by stating that Robby McCrorie and Robbie Fraser, the captain of the B Team, could be the next pair to leave with Lowry in the upcoming summer window.
Phillipe Clement to ditch a further three Rangers academy products?
At just 20-years-old, Lowry had shown promise during his first two seasons involved with the Rangers first team, and a loan move to Hearts at the beginning of the season looked to provide the opportunity for further first-team football.
After 17 appearances in the three competitions that Hearts are involved in though, Lowry’s loan spell was cut short as Jambos manager Steven Naismith said he wasn’t going to get the game time that he needed to develop in his career.
Lowry’s unimpressive time at Hearts saw him score a single goal for the club, a 90th-minute winner against Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.
Lowry might have to leave the team in order to obtain the playing time he needs to grow if Clement is not convinced by the academy product. McCrorie and Fraser might also have to depart.
Although it would be sad to see three more homegrown players leave Ibrox, if they draw transfer fees, Clement may be able to use the additional funds for his possible summer plans.
