Even though the summer transfer window is over, there is still a lot of discussion about Scottish clubs, particularly over player contracts and futures.

Following a week off for the Scotland national team, Celtic and Rangers will resume Scottish Premiership play the following week. But rumors are circulating behind the scenes that a current Ibrox star is being watched by a team in his native country during the last year of his contract.

Another report claims that the Hoops and one of their most talented young players have reached an agreement on a new contract. On September 7, the following were the most recent Celtic and Rangers transfer news stories:

According to the Croatian newspaper Germanijak, Dinamo Zagreb has reportedly begun to “take action” in an effort to repatriate Rangers defender Borna Barisic. According to the article, the HNL team “smell an opportunity” to sign the 30-year-old, who is entering the final year of his Ibrox deal, if they can get their hands on him.

The 31-cap Croatian international is reportedly close to signing a deal to return to the team he played for in the winter transfer window between 2015 and 2016. They allegedly wanted to make a trade on deadline day last week, but it was always improbable, and they think Rangers want to lock the left back into a long-term contract.

Celtic and “top talent” “agree a deal”
For the gifted young defender Mitchel Frame, Celtic have reached an agreement on terms for a new deal. Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist and self-described “transfer guru,” claims that “several clubs in England” were interested in the 17-year-old.

“Celtic agree new deal terms with top talent Mitchel Frame, 2006 born fullback,” he wrote on platform X. Frame already has a deal in place through the summer of 2025, but a new agreement has been reached for the summer of 2026. Frame, who was about to sign a contract with Celtic, was being pursued by several English clubs.
