Ally McCoist says Everton supporters “should be concerned” about the club’s chances of relegation this season given the unpredictability surrounding Goodison Park.

Before their match against Newcastle United on Tuesday, April 2, the Toffees are three points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League, but they could lose another point in the next few days.

Although McCoist thinks the Toffees’ trip to St. James’ Park will be “absolutely massive” in the relegation battle, he acknowledges that Brentford, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest, and any of the other teams could still lose this season.

At 9:08 on Tuesday, April 2, on talkSPORT, he stated: “It’s absolutely massive.” Luton once more at the weekend: everyone is praising Rob Edwards’ efforts and lamenting their lack of luck, but Luton has to start accumulating points.

“They are losing late game-winning goals and late equalizers for the opposition. They really should start scoring more points, even if I’ve really appreciated them.

“Everton has already dropped points because of the uncertainty.” The question mark over them, Forest. Is Brentford past its prime? Yes, based on their performance over the weekend, but their recent track record hasn’t been great.

“I think all of those fans should be concerned, no doubt about it.”

Will this be the season when Everton is demoted from the Premier League?
In the latter stages of the season, the struggle to stay above the drop at the bottom of the league could not be much closer, even if the Premier League competition at the top has received the majority of media attention thus far this season.

As McCoist suggested, there is plenty of uncertainty around Goodison Park which could drag Everton straight back into the dogfight in the coming weeks, especially if they are hit with a second point deduction.

However, Sean Dyche’s team hasn’t shown much on the pitch to indicate that they can put together a run of play to get out of the dropzone. They haven’t won a league championship in 2024, and it doesn’t appear like it will happen anytime soon.

When the Toffees play Newcastle United on Tuesday, perhaps, they can move closer to safety. A victory at St. James’ Park would turn the entire war around, but it will require a much better effort from the Blues.

In unrelated Everton news, a pundit has predicted that if 777 Partners’ takeover isn’t completed soon, the Toffees “could plummet” like Rangers.
