The Baltimore Orioles should take a look at this right-handed pitcher after Shane Bieber’s injury.
Considering that Kyle Bradish and John Means are currently not in the starting lineup, the Baltimore Orioles have had an outstanding start to the season.
An ace-caliber pitcher was obviously needed going into the season, and the front office provided one by dealing for right-hander Corbin Burnes. The Orioles are now maybe the greatest team in the American League after landing Burnes, which put them in a different league.
There’s a chance that Baltimore will be considering acquiring another arm before the trade deadline, considering their current chances. Shane Bieber, a right-handed pitcher who won a Cy Young award in 2020, was among the possible candidates.
Sadly, Bieber will require Tommy John surgery and miss the rest of the season. This is a terrible setback for one of the top pitchers in baseball.
The Orioles will not have the chance to trade for one of their top targets, but in the coming months, other choices might become available.
Freddy Peralta, a right-handed pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, is one player to keep an eye on. Given that the Brewers and Baltimore previously completed a deal this past summer, another one wouldn’t be shocking.
Milwaukee has a 6-2 record thus far this season, demonstrating strong play. Moving Peralta might be the best course of action, though, if they are predicted to be a below-average team this season.
The 27-year-old Peralta will become a free agent in 2025, which makes now much more advantageous to deal him. After an outstanding season in which he pitched 165 2/3 innings with a 3.86 ERA and 210 strikeouts, he was named an All-Star in 2021.
