During the summer transfer window, a number of Nottingham Forest players will be judged surplus to requirements. A South American team is currently trying to sign a player Nuno Espirito Santo does not think highly of.

After being promoted to the Premier League in 2022, the Reds have been quite active in the transfer market. There have been forty-three players sign up for City Ground, so eventually something has to give.

Forest has dropped four points so far this season due to financial fair play violations. Because of this, the team will try to make the necessary cuts in the summer, which probably means that a few players will go for better opportunities.

Numerous loan players for the Reds will also not be retained. It has now been revealed that one of those is already talking to potential football teams for the upcoming season.

Gonzalo Montiel, a player for Nottingham Forest, and the club have opened discussions.
I think we can all agree that this isn’t too shocking. According to recent rumors, Forest has decided not to sign Montiel this summer.

Journalist Damian Augusto Villagra now claims that River Plate and Montiel have begun discussions on the right-back’s potential signing during the upcoming transfer window.

For £9 million, Forest had agreed to sign Montiel as long as the World Cup winner participated in half of the team’s games this season.

That is no longer an option, and rumors have it that Forest will not be permanently adding Montiel to their roster during the transfer window.

The club River Plate is located nearer to Montiel’s center. After going through the junior system there, he made 140 appearances before joining Sevilla.

Regarding the unpredictable player, Forest made the appropriate decision.
When called upon to replace Forest, Montiel hasn’t performed poorly. He has participated in 15 competitions, however he has been sidelined due to injury at times.

Montiel didn’t seem to be liked by Steve Cooper, and Espirito Santo’s arrival gave him a legitimate chance to get into the team.

Although Montiel has had some successful moments and has tallied three assists throughout his tenure with the team, these have been much too few in between.

Neco Williams, the Reds’ right-back, is playing excellently right now. Although Montiel did play a late role in Sunday’s loss to Tottenham, his time at Forest is running out.

Montiel would probably want to go to a better club following Forest, like River Plate. He is quite fond of the Argentine team, and he would probably play a lot more football than he has this year.

When Montiel departs, the forest should still be abundantly supplied. Ola Aina is a capable right-back, and at 22 years old, Williams has the stamina to play there for a while yet.
