Nothing has changed, according to James Tavernier, and Rangers will be aiming to win the Premiership six times in a row in order to secure the championship.
The Light Blues had appeared to be in control until their shocking loss to Ross County over the weekend, which dropped them four points behind Celtic. If they win their remaining match against Dundee on Wednesday night, though, that deficit could be as little as one point. The skipper is aware that Rangers will be declared champions if they win their final six games, which include the championship rivalry against Celtic.
Tavernier boldly declared: “We enter every game with the intention of winning it; that never changes. The Rangers approach to winning games is to, of course, go into these six games with the intention of winning each and every one of them. Nothing changes there since we travel to Europe to win games. It goes without saying that we must earn the right to perform to the best of our abilities.”
Tavernier acknowledged that the performance and the 3-2 loss at Dingwall were a shock to the team, but he is certain that the players at Ibrox have the fortitude and character to recover. He indicates their origins since Philippe Clement assumed leadership.
Tavernier asserted: “I believe we have demonstrated this mindset quite a few times. However, as I previously stated, you have to earn the right to win games, and we didn’t.
That’s the disheartening element. You do need to be more clinical and put the ball in the net when you do get opportunities in front of goal.
“We created chances but we obviously didn’t finish them off so six games to play and we go into every game like it is a final, from the start of the season to the end of the season so nothing changes there, while we have to put in a performance that the fans recognise and we recognise as a team.”
