Dan Plumley claims that Rangers captain James Tavernier might be persuaded to move to Saudi Arabia as his career comes to an end.

It follows news that Saudi Pro League teams, including Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, are reportedly considering a “big-money” deal to sign the 32-year-old.

A player nearing the end of their career is more likely to accept a “lucrative” offer to go to the Middle East, according to the football finance specialist.

“That makes sense to most people,” he exclusively stated to Ibrox News.

Of course, people discuss loyalty and which players they believe ought to remain with particular teams. However, the problem is made more worse when you consider that a player’s playing career is often much shorter than a typical working career, especially as the player’s career is coming to an end.

That is not to mean that you shouldn’t look at an attractive financial offer if it is presented to you when you are young.

“However, if that does happen later on and, especially considering the Saudi example, if players might potentially have a large deal on the table to finish off their careers…

“We’ve seen that with some of the moves to the United States as well and other aspects of that, so it certainly resonates.

“Since the career is brief, accepting a lucrative offer at a time when you may be nearing the end of your playing days will always be more alluring.”

Is James Tavernier going to Saudi Arabia to play for the Rangers?
Over the past year or so, there have been numerous speculations suggesting that Tavernier would go to Saudi Arabia.

This increased even further when Gerrard signed a contract with Al-Ettifaq in July of last year, as the former manager of the Gers appeared eager to move the right-back to the Middle East.

His age may make him more likely to move, as Plumley notes, but for now, he’ll be concentrating on winning more trophies at Ibrox this season.
