According to insiders who spoke with Football Insider, Leeds United is expecting a “huge” financial damage if they are not promoted back to the Premier League this season.

Following last week’s 4-0 loss away to Queens Park Rangers, the Whites could miss out on the playoffs (26 April).

Ipswich can overhaul Leeds to finish runners-up in the Championship by picking up four points from their final two games in the 2023-24 campaign.

Regardless of the club’s fate this term, it is believed manager Daniel Farke will remain in his post for the 2024-25 campaign.

Leeds set to lose multiple key men if they lose out on promotion

However, if the Yorkshire side fail to win the playoffs – which kick off in mid-May – sources say they are set for a “huge” financial blow.

It is believed Leeds will need to sell multiple key players in a bid to avoid breaching financial rules.

Meanwhile, the Whites’ latest accounts showed that £73.6million of outstanding transfer fees are due to be paid by the end of June.

They posted a loss £34million for the 2022-23 campaign, which saw them relegated from the Premier League.

Vultures are already circling some of their top assets, with sources telling Football Insider on 24 April that Aston Villa are keeping close tabs on top scorer Crysencio Summerville.

Leeds face Southampton in the final game of the Championship season on Saturday (4 May) – but will have to rely on results elsewhere to gain automatic promotion.

Farke’s side will face one of Hull, Norwich or West Brom in the playoff semi-final if they drop into third place.
