The Scotland international, who has 10 goals in 39 outings for his country, has signed on with the Reds on an unrestricted basis till the end of the current campaign.

Fletcher later spent time with Burnley and Wolves after creating a name for himself at Hibernian. before spending the previous campaign with Dundee United, Sunderland, Marseille, Sheffield Wednesday, and Stoke City

As a replacement for Luke Armstrong, whose deadline-day deal from Harrogate Town fell through because the EFL said the necessary paperwork was not submitted in a timely manner, free agent Fletcher has arrived at The STóK Cae Ras.

In Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers at home, Fletcher made his Wrexham debut eight minutes from time. Despite spending a brief amount of time on the field, Reds’ manager Parkinson was pleased with what he saw.

Due to the fact that he had only trained on Thursday, a brief session, and Friday, Parkinson revealed he was debating whether to put the player on the bench.

“I just asked him, ‘Have you got 10-15 minutes in you, how do your legs feel after the last two days?'” We didn’t want to hurt him, after all.

“He claimed to be fine and gave us a great lift when he came on. He shown quality at times.

He won a fantastic header on the back stick off a set-play and held the ball in the corner toward the finish, but he also shown good game management.

“I am thrilled that Steven has signed with us.

“Of course, we suffered a setback on transfer deadline day, but as I have frequently stated, if we experience setbacks, we must ask ourselves, “Okay, how are we going to overcome that?,” and I believe we have done so with a really good signing.”

Parkinson has no shortage of offensive options with star striker Paul Mullin making his comeback as a second-half replacement against Doncaster after missing the start of the League Two season due to a ruptured lung and four shattered ribs sustained during the preseason tour of America.

When asked if Fletcher will be used to start games or make an impact off the bench, Parkinson responded, “We will have to see, who knows. Steven played a lot of games last year and was a shining light in a very difficult season for Dundee United.

You can never have enough strikers at your disposal, and Steven proved that he is going to make a significant impact. I thought that we needed another striker of real talent in the building.

Mullin’s comeback thrilled the fans, but Elliot Lee’s goal against Doncaster sealed the victory.

With only two minutes left, Lee cut inside from the left and had Luke Young’s first-half goal cancelled out before his low shot was deflected into the goal.
