Football Insider has been informed by sources that Ian Broomfield, a top scout for Tottenham, has been fired by the team and is going on gardening leave.
The 73-year-old joined the club’s scouting system back in 2009, so he has a long history there.
Before departing in 2013 for a brief stint with Queens Park Rangers, Broomfield served as the club’s head scout for three years in north London.
In order to rejoin the Tottenham scouting team, where he had spent the previous ten years working, he came back to the city in 2014.
Tottenham stated that “the review of our football operations continues and involves the restructuring of a number of departments” when Football Insider contacted the team on Thursday, May 2.
Broomfield is one of many employees that are a part of an internal reorganization at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Under manager Ange Postecoglou, the team declared last year that they are reviewing their football-related rules with an emphasis on data-driven hiring.
Following that declaration, Johan Lange was named technical director of the Spurs, while Scott Munn was named chief football officer.
In order to get ready for the impending summer transfer window, Rob Mackenzie has also returned to the team in the role of head of recruitment.
With five league games left in the season, Postecoglou’s team is still in the running to qualify for the Champions League in 2024–2025.
