Wrexham’s executive director Humphrey Ker has named one player he ‘dreams’ of bringing to the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham fans are living in dreamland currently.

Supporters around the globe have experienced two euphoric promotions in a row and the Reds are now embarking on a campaign in League One.

For most fans, experiencing this level of excitement would have been unthinkable over three years ago when the Welsh side were trapped in the National League and strapped for cash.

These days a feel-good factor engulfs the town of Wrexham and thanks to Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, thousands of fans can dream of reaching the Premier League.

It’s an ambition that McElhenney and Reynolds set out when they tookover the club in 2021 and now, they are just two promotions away from achieving their dream.

Humphrey Ker names his ‘dream’ Wrexham signing

The two Hollywood stars aren’t the only people who share big dreams for the club. Executive director Humphrey Ker has shown his ambition by not ruling out a move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

It’s a transfer that would never happen, not this summer at least as Vardy just fired Leicester to the Championship, but it demonstrates how Wrexham constantly aim high.

Aiming high is a motto shared within the whole club and fan base as when naming his dream signing for the Reds, Ker chose a former Liverpool player and current Welsh international.

Speaking to SPORTbible, the 41-year-old said: “So in the past, I’ve been asked this question I’ve often cited sort of a Neco Williams as one, you know, he’s from the area, he’s a Premier League quality right back, play for Wales. The day we are signing players like that will be a sign of how far we’ve come.”

Neco Williams would suit Wrexham

Neco Williams is currently playing for Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old has played 26 times in the Premier League this term and is best utilised as a right wing-back with the freedom to fly up and down the flank.

In an ideal world, signing Williams would be possible and Ker would fulfil his dream of seeing him pull on the Wrexham jersey.

After all, the Reds do play a system under Phil Parkinson where both wingbacks are encouraged to get forward and this would suit the Forest man down to the ground.

But as Ker said, Wrexham are still quite far away from being able to attract such players, although if they do win promotion to the Championship – as mooted by their owners – landing the 39-cap Wales international would be a much more realistic shout.
