One player wants to follow David Moyes out of east London after West Ham revealed that he will be leaving the London Stadium this summer.
Tim Steiden is getting ready to welcome Julen Lopetegui to east London and will be assisting the Spaniard with recruitment, so the Hammers will have a busy summer.
After six games without a victory, a lot needs to happen at West Ham to enhance the team’s attitude; nevertheless, the current rumor coming from the London Stadium won’t help much.
Lucas Paqueta desires a move from West Ham
Lucas Paqueta reportedly wants to leave West Ham to follow David Moyes, according to a Give Me Sport story.
The Brazil international is rumored to be anxious to sign with Manchester City this summer after an attempted £80 million transfer to the Etihad Stadium in 2023 was derailed by an inquiry into purported bet violations.
After Paqueta received the all-clear, Give Me Sport believes Pep Guardiola’s team is now prepared to renew their interest, and those at West Ham are reportedly content to lose the South American.
The playmaker, who earns £130,000 a week, is reportedly set on playing with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
Give Me Sport further notes that Guardiola has always admired Paqueta, even though he first lost interest in him after the betting scandals. In September, the two even had an embrace prior to Manchester City’s 3-1 Premier League victory against West Ham.
After his transfer to the Etihad Stadium fell through in 2023, the West Ham No. 10 has had a fantastic season, tallying eight goals and supplying seven assists in 41 games in all competitions.
A new era is upon us.
Paqueta should be free to leave West Ham if he chooses not to stay.
After replacing Moyes, the last thing Lopetegui needs is a player who isn’t prepared to commit to the new team’s goals. Instead, the projected £80 million from his possible sale should go toward adding players who are eager to work under the Spaniard.
Ivan Toney, the 17-year-old center for Brentford, is one reported target. Steiden would be well-served by starting the summer transfer market with Steiden.
The England international’s 20 Premier League goals from the previous season were surpassed only by Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. However, his 2023–24 campaign was interrupted by a ban for breaking gambling regulations.
Hopefully, West Ham avoids making a mess out of the Paqueta scenario; Lopetegui shouldn’t even be interested in keeping the Brazilian if he doesn’t want to play at the London Stadium.
