Deniz Undav, a striker for VfB Stuttgart, has stated that Brighton has the upper hand in securing a permanent transfer.
After the German team’s most recent victory over Augsburg, which advanced them further in the Champions League, the striker had a conversation with Kicker.
Since joining Stuttgart on loan in the summer, Undav has shown himself to be a wise addition to the Bundesliga team, scoring 19 goals and dishing out 10 assists in 32 games across all competitions.
Stuttgart has the option to extend the loan for an additional €20 million, which is something the German team has been considering for months.
They initially seemed hesitant to invest the required funds, but in recent weeks, they have gradually changed their minds. Most recently, they have stated that they can help cover that amount if they can secure Champions League football.
Undav has made it quite evident that he wants to be with the German team in the interim, having apparently found contentment once more following a challenging first season with Brighton.
He has since restated that position, although he acknowledges that the club, not him, is ultimately in control.
“Absolutely,” he said when asked if he wants to stay at Stuttgart.
“I’ve said what I want often enough. Now we have to see what happens. The ball is in Stuttgart and Brighton’s court.”
