The Sun reported that Rangers have spoken to Graham Potter about taking Michael Beale’s place as manager at Ibrox.

The UK news outlet reports that the Ibrox club approached the former Chelsea and Brighton manager’s representatives about taking the manager’s job on their official website (13 September).

However, Potter declined the offer since he is looking for a new job after his disastrous tenure at Stamford Bridge. As a result, Beale is still in control and fighting for his position.

Graham Potter declined an offer to take over for Michael Beale, who was under fire, at Scottish club Rangers, they reported.

Rangers have dropped two of their opening four Scottish Premiership contests, including an Old Firm rivalry, and were eliminated from the Champions League qualifying round after being thrashed 5-1 by PSV Eindhoven in the second leg.

“As a result, Rangers management looked into their possibilities and contacted Potter’s representation.

But the former Chelsea and Brighton manager was not open to discussing the position.

Wow

After losing to Celtic and losing in the Champions League, there has been a lot of discussion throughout the international break concerning Beale’s future.

Beale stated in the summer that his goals for this point in the season were to be first in the league, in the League Cup quarterfinals, and in the group stages of the Champions League, but he has only succeeded in achieving one of those goals.

With nine first-team acquisitions over the summer, his club is largely his now, and he has few justifications for the subpar results thus far.

However, the board’s decision to pursue Potter is a clear indication of their desire to try and advance the club to the next level, given his reputation following his work at Brighton.

Given the payout he would have received from Chelsea and the way he failed there, it’s not really surprising that Potter declined our offer, but it’s reassuring to know the club doesn’t want to stand still and is looking at options in case Beale can’t turn things around.
