Newcastle United have eight players with just over 12 months remaining on their contract
Tightening up loose ends was a key priority for Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window. Tying star assets down on long-term deals was equally as important as bolstering the squad with further signings.
Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton penned bumper new deals, with Alexander Isak understood to be next on the Magpies’ list. Emil Krafth, Jamaal Lascelles and Fabian Schar also committed their immediate futures to Newcastle.
As it stands, Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett and Loris Karius will leave when their contracts run out next month. But a corridor of uncertainty has opened up regarding nine more players who have a year left on their deals.
Toon chiefs must decide whether to cash this summer – their last possible chance to recoup a sizable transfer fee. Age, importance, reliability, FFP/PSR and, most importantly, quality will all be considered as Newcastle aim to bridge the gap between the gap each year.

1. Emil Krafth
The Swede penned a one-year extension in February, ensuring his stay for another season.
2. Jamaal Lascelles
Like Krafth, he also penned a one-year deal. The club captain remains sidelined with an ACL injury.
3. Dan Burn
An important player despite being viewed as a stop-gap signing in January 2022. If he continues performing well at centre-back, he can be assured of another deal.
4. Kieran Trippier
Newcastle have a huge decision to make here. They rejected an advance from Bayern Munich in January but may be tempted to cash in this summer.
5. Fabian Schar
Newcastle surprisingly only agreed an 18-month deal with the Swiss international. An ominous sign?
6. Callum Wilson
If it weren’t for injuries, keeping Wilson would be a no-brainer. But that’s a huge if.
