Everton’s star Ashley Young admitted that Sir Alex Ferguson still terrifies him more than Sean Dyche does and said that he still refers to his old boss as “The Boss” in spite of this.
Even now, according to Young, when his phone calls and the former Manchester United manager answers, he makes sure to be professional and turns down any music.
In a gesture of respect for the renowned Scottish manager, with whom Young won the Premier League championship, he also explained how he will continue to refer to Ferguson as “the boss” despite having had many different managers subsequently.
Alan Brazil, the host of talkSPORT, posed the query to Young on September 14: “Who’s scarier, Fergie or Dychey?” The Everton man replied, “The Boss, I’d say,” in response.
Because he is still in charge, the former Manchester United winger continued, “I can’t even call him Fergie.
Young referred to Dyche as “an old-school manager” before asking who terrifies him more, adding: “But he has evolved with the times. That’s exactly how football is right now; you have to adapt.
“He works hard, and he expects you to work hard, too. You must go out and put in a lot of effort; that is a fact.
As I said, “He’s a manager that just lets the players go and play, express themselves, and like I say if you’re putting in the hard work he’s always going to be there backing you.”
“I told someone the other day that when the boss calls and you see him on the phone, it’s like, “Turn the music down,” because you’re still afraid of him when you answer. Right now!”

Clearly, Dyche continues to enjoy respect
It shouldn’t be shocking that the former Manchester United winger, who won the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup at United, the first of which was under Ferguson’s leadership, still chooses the Scot as his most admired manager, but there was evident respect given for Dyche.
Even seasoned players like Young admire the Everton manager’s no-nonsense approach, with his “old-school” manner unmistakably having an effect on the player who joined during the summer transfer window.
Given how well-respected the former Manchester United manager is, Dyche will aspire to someday achieve even a small portion of his achievements.
Given that Young has only been working with Dyche for roughly two months and in light of the stories from former Man United players regarding Ferguson’s tenure, it would have been surprising if Young had referred to Dyche as a “scarier” manager than Ferguson.
