James Tavernier, the captain of Rangers, has received orders from Derek Ferguson to join the Saudi Pro League this summer after the team’s Scottish Cup loss to Celtic.

According to sources, Steven Gerrard is eager to transfer the 32-year-old to Al-Ettifaq when the window opens. The Englishman has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer [Daily Record, 24 April].

Ferguson acknowledges that Tavenier should depart Glasgow with a smile on his face, despite the fact that he has been a supporter of the right-back and has given him high marks for his performances this season.

Speaking on May 28, at 39:00, on The Open Goal YouTube channel, he stated: “I believe he should, I believe it’s his time.”

We may discuss his statistics and how good he has been for us. I can get annoyed with people sometimes, but I suppose that’s because of his time. Why wouldn’t you visit Saudi Arabia? Go make a little bucks for yourself, and Rangers fans will give you a lot of credit for what you accomplished.

Will James Tavernier be sold by the Rangers at Ibrox during the summer transfer window?
While most Rangers supporters will concur that Tavernier is a contemporary legend, this does not absolve him of criticism or indicate that he ought to stay in Glasgow past the summer transfer window.

The Englishman was frequently caught off guard by long diagonal balls during Celtic’s match at Hampden Park. Although Daizen Maeda was unable to capitalize on his inept positioning, it was evident that Tavernier’s greatest days might be behind him.

Philippe Clement is going to make several changes to his squad over the next few months and should the right offer be made before the start of next season, the Belgian would certainly have to accept it.

Although the captain may believe he has more to offer in a Gers jersey, this might be too good of an opportunity to pass up. He would become a legend in Glasgow and earn a great deal of money in the richest league in the world.

Watching this story unfold over the next few weeks is definitely recommended.
