The Newcastle United midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes, was questioned by TNT Sport on rumours that he was considering a move away. Poor Bruno, he had to respond to queries about his future once more.
Nothing is more stylish in the world of football than Anthony Gordon’s patchwork pants, well, maybe implying that Newcastle must sell Bruno Guimaraes in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations.
Although Newcastle isn’t “need to sell our prize asset for £100m” close to their FFP limit, they are apparently approaching it. Despite this, journalists continue to repeat the claim without hesitation.
The player has now been questioned by TNT Sports in Brazil (via Fabrizio Romano) on if he believes he will be sold in an effort to stave off the FFP overlords at Newcastle.
Bruno Guimaraes has once again stated he his happy where he is
Bruno has stated many, many times that he is happy at Newcastle, there’s never been so much as a hint that he wants to leave, and despite reiterating that again here, some fans are choosing to focus on his words rather than his message.
“My future? I’m under contract at Newcastle, I’m very happy. I don’t know what’s gonna happen with Financial Fair Play, but I can say I’m very happy”.
“It’s nice to see my name linked with big clubs, it means I’m doing my job well… but I’m not worried — I’m happy at Newcastle. We will see what happens”
With him saying “we will see what happens” some fans are reading it as him leaving the door open for a move, and saying “big clubs” has also ruffled some feathers.
At the end of the day, the “we will see” is more likely him admitting that not everything is under his control and if the club needs to sell him, they will. The overriding message here though, is clearly that he is happy at Newcastle.
The fact he refers to being linked with “big clubs” is nothing to get upset about either. It’s not like he said “bigger clubs”, then we could maybe take issue with it, but even then, it’s down to interpretation and, more importantly, translation as the answer was given in Portuguese.
So we can stop panicking, it was just an honest answer to a crap question and nothing to worry about. Focus on the positive: Bruno. Is. Happy.
