As the team’s second choice from the previous season is slated to depart this summer, he is projected to replace Robby McCrorie in Philippe Clement’s lineup.
Since the end of the season, the Gers have added Jefte, Oscar Cortes, and Clinton Nsiala; former Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron is reportedly nearing a contract [Sky Sports, June 18].

Reuniting with Kelly would seem to be a wise move overall and lessen the impact of McCrorie’s much-needed departure.
The latter must obviously establish himself as a consistent starter somewhere, given he declined a contract extension at Ibrox.
Given that Jack Butland is possibly Clement’s greatest player, if he stays in Glasgow, it won’t be for the Light Blues.
It will be difficult to strike a balance this summer due to the possibility of significant offers from the Premier League, even though Butland hasn’t said he plans to stay. As Alan Nixon (28 May) noted, the English market hasn’t grown much thus far.
The best result this summer appears to be holding onto Butland as the undisputed number one and adding Kelly, a capable backup with a wealth of Scottish Premiership experience.
Although Kieran Wright is in a similar situation as McCrorie and has also been predicted to depart, Jon McLaughlin also left the club at the end of his contract, so there is still room for the club to promote another homegrown player into the first team squad as third choice [Rangers Review, 5 June].
