According to reports, West Brom and Norwich City are vying for the signing of Toulouse defender Moussa Diarra.
The Baggies and the Canaries are two of the six teams vying for Diarra’s signature, according to French publication Foot Mercato. Along with an undisclosed German team, Olympique Marseille, OGC Nice, and Stade Rennais are all interested in signing him.
The 23-year-old declared he would leave Toulouse this summer, and he is now free to sign with any team. After an eight-year tenure that included several Europa League games, he left the Stadium de Toulouse with 109 matches under his belt.
Diarra competed with Toulouse, a team that won Ligue 2 in 2022 and qualified for UEFA’s second division by winning the Coupe de France the following year. Having received three caps for the Mali national team, he possesses a considerable level of expertise.
“It’s time for me to start a new chapter in my football career after eight years at the club,” Diarra announced on social media to announce his transfer out.
“I want to express my gratitude to the club for believing in me over the years. My arrival at the training center in 2016, our 2019 trip to Gambardella, our Ligue 2 championship, our triumph in the Coupe de France, and of course, the adventure in the Coupe d’ Europe are just a few of the many memories that spring to mind. Toulouse, thank you.”
With Erik Pieters’ departure granted, West Brom will be looking to get a new center-back. He announced his departure when the Baggies released their retained list in May. Kyle Bartley and Cedric Kipre were both offered fresh contracts.
After starting preliminary negotiations, Trabzonspor expressed interest in signing Kipre, indicating interest from Turkey. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Ipswich Town is now interested in signing the 27-year-old. With his contract expiring this summer, WBA will be losing a player who only missed two Championship games the previous campaign.
