Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has said they are ‘working’ on deals behind the scenes.

Wrexham are looking to bolster their ranks following their promotion from League Two.

The Red Dragons went up to League One along with Stockport County, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town.

He has provided this transfer update, as per a report by The Leader: “The players we are going for, we are competing with other teams for. But Wrexham is a very attractive club to come and play for and we’re working on getting the best players which are within our budget.

“It is an exciting club to be part of, there is no doubt about that. There’s the back-to-back promotions and people looking from afar can see we are a club progressing in the right direction.

“There’s a lot more growth to come and there’s players who want to be a part of that. It is my job and the staff’s job to select those players who can enhance that.

Wrexham plans

Wrexham can afford to be patient on the recruitment front as they wait for the right signings.

There is no point in them rushing into expensive deals and they already have a decent squad.

The Welsh outfit brought in third tier standard players last year when they were in the league below so are already pretty prepared for life at that level

The next few months is just about tweaking certain areas and injecting that bit more quality into their ranks.

Wrexham have completed the acquisition of goalkeeper Arthur Okonwko as their first arrival. He cut ties with Arsenal following the end of the last campaign and has arrived on a free.

The stopper helped the Red Dragons go up last term and snapping him up permanently is a big statement of intent.

Room to bring in players

Wrexham have released a few players recently. As per their retained list, Aaron Hayden, Rob Lainton, Callum McFadzean, Ben Tozer, Jordan Tunnicliffe, Luke Young, Owen Cushion and Dan Davies all departed.
