This summer’s transfer window will see a West Brom youngster join a League One club; his game time with the Baggies had become limited and was primarily defined by loan moves away; therefore, a move to greener pastures makes sense in this case. Euro 2024 has now reached the end of its group stage, and the knockout rounds are upon us. England will take on Slovakia in the competition’s last 16 – but what is happening back home around the Hawthorns Stadium today?

In other news, Sheffield United is reportedly in negotiations to sign a 24-year-old on a free transfer from Leeds United. It will probably be a somber moment for Whites supporters, since he has been at Leeds since 2006. However, his playing time at Elland Road had significantly decreased over time.

Zac Ashworth leaves West Brom to join Blackpool

According to the Baggies website, Zac Ashworth has formally left West Brom to sign a permanent contract with Blackpool in League One for an unknown transfer price. He declares that he is “over the moon” about joining the Seasiders.

Ashworth played much of the previous season on loan at Bolton Wanderers. With 16 league appearances, two goals, and two assists, he contributed to the Trotters’ run to the League One playoff final.

In an interview that was posted on Blackpool’s official website upon his arrival, Ashworth stated, “I’m over the moon to be here and really excited for what’s to come.”

“Blackpool is a massive Club and this is a great opportunity for a fresh start. The gaffer was a big factor in the move. After speaking to him and discussing what he thinks I can offer, he made me really want to play for him and for the team. I’ve had such a warm welcome from everyone and can’t wait to meet the lads in training this week and get going in Tangerine.”

Sheffield United ‘agree deal’ to sign Leeds United’s Jamie Shackleton on a free transfer

Sheffield United are said to have agreed a deal with one of their Yorkshire rivals, Leeds United, to sign Jamie Shackleton on a free transfer. This is according to a report from Football Insider, who note that Shackleton’s contract at Leeds was due to expire at the end of the month – thus making a free transfer possible.

The 24-year-old made eleven Championship appearances for the White last season, registering a single assist along the way. He had become little more than a fringe player at – therefore, a fresh start elsewhere seems to make sense for all parties involved.

The Blades are looking to rebuild after a disastrous season in the Premier League that ended in relegation, while Leeds are looking to regroup after they were defeated in the Championship playoff final by Southampton. Shackleton will be United boss Chris Wilder’s first signing of the summer – who else will the Blades look to snap up before the deadline?
