Replacing the stars who are expected to depart Crystal Palace will be Steve Parish and company’s first objective this summer, and the Eagles appear poised to accomplish just that as they get closer to bringing in a quality free agent.
Palace devises a scheme to replace departing celebrities.
The most recent rumors coming out of Selhurst Park concern Michael Olise’s future. The Frenchman is expected to sign with Bayern Munich in the coming days, having all but left South London.
Eberechi Eze, Olise’s attacking partner, has also been connected to a departure from Palace. Spurs, who are apparently unaffected by Eze’s £60 million release clause, have expressed the strongest interest in the England international.
Palace is keeping an eye on several strong attacking players to replace the departing talents. Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, is rumored to want to sign Filip Kostic from Juventus this summer after managing the Serbian international at Frankfurt.
The Eagles are now leading the search for a flexible offensive force that will be ideal for Glasner’s style of play, as Palace is obviously keen to secure the future of their attack.
Eagles are ahead in the battle to sign a free agent.
Ryan Sessegnon is training at Crystal Palace with the intention of signing with the team, as was initially revealed on The Athletic’s David Ornstein’s X account. The 24-year-old’s £55,000-per-week contract with Spurs expired at the end of last month, allowing him to depart North London and become a free agent.
According to an earlier HITC report, Fulham, Leeds United, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Real Betis, Monza, Como, and Atalanta were among the teams reportedly interested in signing Sessegnon. Palace was merely one of many teams that could have pursued the attacking full back.
As Sessegnon continues to practice at Copers Cope Road, it appears like the Eagles are in the lead for the 24-year-old. The team that signs him will not have to pay a dime, so they could wind up with a real steal.
Sessegnon’s 24-year-old tenure in North London came to an end as a result of his struggles with form and fitness. After logging just seven senior minutes in the last campaign, it seemed obvious that Ange Postecoglou would not include Sessegnon in his plans for the upcoming one.
Notwithstanding his recent form problems, Sessegnon undoubtedly possesses the ability to develop into a top player. After winning Championship Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season as a 17-year-old with Fulham in the 2017–18 campaign, the aggressive full defender earned a transfer to Spurs. Over that season, the Englishman scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists.
After the 2018 playoff final, the then-teenager received praise from former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic, who told the media at the time: “He’s 17 years old and he’s special.” He performed a tremendous job for us and for himself, but at the end he knows he needs to focus and concentrate if he wants to show himself. Overall, this is a really terrific stage in his career.”
Palace could do much worse than a high-potential free agent that Glasner’s new manager might maximize given his proven offensive style of play.
