The emotional significance of Paul Mullin’s goal celebration at Wrexham, which received a lot of media attention in the 2022–23 season, has been revealed.

WHAT OCCURED?

Last season, the dynamic frontman scored on 47 different occasions across all competitions, assisting the Dragons in their promotion back to the Football League and spectacular run to the FA Cup fourth round.

THE GRANDER IMAGE

After recovering from a punctured lung sustained during Wrexham’s summer tour of America, Mullin, 28, believes that his account for 2023–24 will soon be opened. Mullin has won over a devoted fan following in North Wales, and club co-owner Ryan Reynolds remains a huge supporter.
WHO SAID WHAT

Mullin stated of his now instantly recognizable goal celebration in season two of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary: “Every time I score now, I’m going to make a ‘A’ sign for Albi.” The Welcome to Wrexham documentary has given the League Two team a window to the world. But it’s also really nice, like a “A” for autism. Therefore, whatever the people desire it to be for themselves is ideal. It’s obviously not for me.

WHAT ARRIVES SECOND?

Mullin made the diagnosis of his son Albi with autism public in January, making it a subject that is now dear to his heart. He has made 98 appearances for Wrexham and scored 79 goals in all. Last season, he won Player of the Year honors, received a contract extension, went on an expense-paid trip to Las Vegas, and there was discussion of him being called up to the Wales national team.
