West Ham have turned attention to a striker signing after agreeing the £40million signing of Max Kilman, sources have told Football Insider.

Tim Steidten and the Irons’ recruitment team are working overtime to bring a marquee new forward to the London Stadium after reuniting Kilman with manager Julen Lopetegui.

One target is Metz striker Georges Mikautadze, 23, who starred for Georgia at the European Championships in Germany.

It is believed West Ham have submitted a bid for the Metz star but face stiff competition for his signature.

Football Insider revealed last month (27 June) that Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Monaco, Lyon and Marseille are also keen on the forward.

West Ham face stiff competition in Mikautadze race

Metz will sell at around €25million (£21.1million) this summer following their relegation to Ligue 2 at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Mikautadze hit three goals and notched one assist in three group games at Euro 2024, helping Georgia qualify for the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time.

He rejoined Metz on a loan-to-buy deal in January and hit 14 goals in 22 games for the French side in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign.

West Ham have added the French-born striker to their target list as they look to add more firepower to Lopetegui’s attack.

The Irons currently have Danny Ings and Michail Antonio on the books in attack.
