It has been a huge summer of change at Nottingham Forest so far – just eight days into July.

The Garibaldi have already waved goodbye to 11 players – who were either sold or released upon the expiry of their contract.

You can see all 11 of those who have departed the City Ground below.

Now – after Moussa Niakhate sealed a £27m move to Lyon – another player is swiftly set to follow him out of Nottingham Forest…

Joe Worrall set to follow Moussa Niakhate out of Nottingham Forest

A story from Football Insider confidently claims that Joe Worrall will be next to leave the City Ground this summer.

The £40,000-a-week man fell out with Steve Cooper last season before being loaned to Besiktas in January, where he made nine appearances as Fernando Santos strangely brought him in and out of the starting XI seemingly at random.

Nottingham Forest have told Worrall he can leave – with Sheffield United already making a £4m move to secure his signature, which is the rumoured asking price.

However, that proposed move to Bramall Lane is yet to materialise, but Football Insider still sound confident that the Englishman will be next to leave the City Ground – despite failing to name any interested club.

Ross Wilson has to find a buyer

Nottingham Forest’s financial issues have been well documented across the past 12 months, and it would suggest the Reds have learned very little if they embark on the 2024/24 campaign with Worrall’s £40,000-a-week salary still burning a hole in the pocket of Evangelos Marinakis.

Even if Nottingham Forest reduce the £4m asking price and sell the 27-year-old for half that amount, it would still represent a more sensible move than keeping those wages on the books.

Once Ross Wilson – Director of Football at the City Ground – has overseen this sale, he must also work to find a new central defender.

Nuno Espirito Santo only has Murillo, Willy Boly and Andrew Omobamidele to choose from after Niakhate departed and Worrall was put up for sale, with Felipe, Scott McKenna, Loic Mbe Soh and Cheikhou Kouyate also departing.
