The Sun reports that West Brom has enquired about signing forward Sorba Thomas from Huddersfield Town.

In the print edition of the newspaper (page 59, July 14), it was stated that Carlos Corberan, who had previously worked with Thomas while he was in charge at Huddersfield, would take Thomas at The Hawthorns.

The Baggies, nevertheless, are unwilling to meet the Welshman’s asking price.

In an attempt to finalize a £1 million transfer, the Terriers have received an offer from Nantes, a French team.

Huddersfield Town’s Sorba Thomas is a target for West Brom.
The Baggies do not wish to cause Corberan any inconvenience.

Given that the manager has experience working with Thomas, it makes sense for him to want to sign him. Thus, maybe the team ought to make every effort to sign Thomas if Corberan has his eye on him.

Thomas helped Huddersfield Town get demoted from the EFL Championship last season by scoring four goals and dishing out nine assists. Corberan obviously thinks the 25-year-old can contribute at West Brom.

While paying £1million for the player might seem like a lot, it could benefit the club massively in the long run.

At The Hawthorns, Thomas might prove to be a very valuable asset. Keeping Corberan satisfied would also lessen the likelihood that he would leave.

Furthermore, Thomas might prefer returning to his former boss than moving to France.

If that is the case, that could help the club bring the cost of the transfer down.
