Several Championship teams are reportedly interested in Brighton forward Mark O’Mahony this summer, according to sources who spoke to Football Insider.
In an effort to help the 19-year-old Irish forward improve via playing first team football, the Premier League team is eager to find the ideal Championship loan for him.
O’Mahony, who made his debut against Burnley in April of the season and broke into the Brighton first squad, is reportedly attracting interest from many clubs.
O’Mahony, who is highly regarded by the South Coast club, moved from Cork City to Brighton in January 2023.
Brighton hopes O’Mahony can follow in Evan Ferguson’s footsteps.
O’Mahony joined Brighton via the junior system of an Irish Premier League team, much like fellow Irishman Evan Ferguson, but that is not where the similarities stop.
The profiles of the two forwards are remarkably similar. Like Ferguson, O’Mahony is a combative player who can score from about any position.
O’Mahony was prolific in the Premier League 2 last season before being moved up to the first-team, scoring ten goals and assisted two in 11 outings.
It’s unclear how much longer Ferguson will be at the club, the 19-year-old has caught the eye of many Premier League big boys.
Should Ferguson leave the club in the near future, a good loan move could put O’Mahony in good stead to replace him.
