Rangers want to sign free agent striker Tyrese Campbell this summer to bolster their attack, according to the Daily Mail.

Writing on their website (18 July), the news outlet report that the striker is deciding the next steps of his career after leaving Stoke when his contract expired at the end of the last campaign.

The Ibrox club are keen to add to their attack this summer but face competition from several Championship clubs including West Brom, QPR and Sheffield United to seal his signature.

Rangers want to sign Tyrese Campbell

The attack is an area of the squad at Ibrox that is in desperate need of new additions this summer, and it’s clear that Philippe Clement knows that.

Hamza Igamane has already joined but isn’t expected to be a starter initially, while Clement has confirmed he has “been in touch” with Abdallah Sima about a permanent deal although it currently isn’t possible [Rangers Review, 15 July].

But with Sam Lammers’ future up in the air, Kemar Roofe already moving on and the club open to offers for Todd Cantwell [The Sun, 20 June] it’s clear more additions are likely.

Campbell has played to a good level after coming through the Manchester City academy and his form most recently helped Stoke to stay in the Championship, and at 24-years-old there is plenty of room for improvement too.

It’s a low-risk signing but Campbell is a player who could come into Ibrox and boost the depth and quality of the squad, so it would be a shrew bit of business considering funds are tight right now.
