Leicester City have secured the services of Chantelle Swaby on a two-year contract, joining the Foxes following her departure from FC Fleury 91 in the French top division.
Now 25 years old, the defender was still playing college football when she made her Jamaica debut and appeared at the 2019 FIFA World Cup before she was drafted by the NWSL’s Sky Blue FC in 2020.
Her one-year stint in the SWPL with Rangers proved to be successful, with the team winning the league that season before she left to join FC Fleury 91. Swaby made 33 appearances for the club, now relishing the opportunity to play in the WSL.
Speaking to LCFC.com, the Foxes’ latest signing said: “It feels great to have signed for Leicester City. I know this will be a really good experience and a great challenge for me and I’m really excited.”
“Playing as the home team at King Power Stadium will be a whole different experience and I’m really looking forward to getting started with my teammates and meet the supporters.”
Swaby will join up with her new teammates at Belvoir Drive when pre-season preparations commence, with the club heading into their fourth consecutive season in the top flight – and their first under Amandine Miquel.
The Foxes have already strengthened their defensive unit in this transfer window, with the permanent acquisition of Asmita Ale confirmed on Wednesday. The club will unveil a further signing in front of fans at a live shirt signing event on Saturday.
