Leeds United are considering a move to sign Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi this summer.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Leeds are among clubs tracking his situation, but they face extensive competition for his signature.

Southampton are understood to have had a £7million rejected and are considering an improved bid of £12million – a fee sources say Leeds would not be willing to match.

Daniel Farke’s side are said to prefer a loan move for the winger, but will have to beat off interest from the likes of Charlton Athletic, Sheffield United, Watford, Luton and QPR.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are not keen to let the 21-year-old leave on a permanent deal and are more likely to entertain loan offers.

Leeds United join race to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace

Rak-Sakyi is a product of Crystal Palace’s youth academy and has come through the ranks to make ten first-team appearances for the Eagles.

A loan spell with Charlton in the 2022-23 season saw him score 15 goals and provide nine assists in 49 games during his first full season in senior football.

Those performances inspired interest from several Championship sides last summer, although then-Palace boss Roy Hodgson opted to keep him at the club to provide depth out wide.

After a turbulent season in which Rak-Sakyi endured long spells with injury issues, Oliver Glasner is keen to allow him a season to continue his development in the second tier.

Multiple top Championship clubs are racing to secure his signature, with Leeds joining the race amid the threat of losing Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto.

Both wingers have been linked with moves to the Premier League this summer after Farke’s side failed to gain promotion last time out.
