Daniel Farke admits Leeds United can now be “careful” in the summer transfer window.

This comes after the sales of players such as Archie Gray and Glen Kamara have placed the club in a strong negotiating position.

The German was talking to LeedsLive after Leeds’ pre-season win against Schalke and claimed that if Leeds need to wait for the right player later this summer then they are able to do so.

“We still have a bit of work to do,” he said.

“I mentioned the positions we have to look at, the number eight position, central midfielders, and the full-back option. We can do this because we have a strong group right now, without the need to rush things or overdo things.

“It’s more like we can be quite careful in who we pick and who is available. For that, if we got, perhaps, a new signing in these positions even a bit later, it wouldn’t cause any damage.

“It’s just important it’s the right choice and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Leeds United set for strong Championship season

Leeds are looking like they’re going to be a force to be reckoned with in the 2024/25 Championship season.

The club has already welcomed Joe Rodon back to the club following his successful loan stint last term and has even added a first-choice right-back to their ranks in Jayden Bogle.

Leeds’ right-back role was arguably their most needed area of improvement as, after the sale of Archie Gray was sanctioned, Sam Byram was the club’s only remaining right-back.

The fact that Leeds managed to bring Bogle in for just £5million is nothing short of genius for one of the best full-backs in the division.

However, additions like Bogle’s are still needed across the board, particularly in the centre of midfield.

Although there is still plenty of time left in the summer window and Farke believes that the club can wait to make additions, the sooner new faces arrive, the quicker they can be integrated into the squad.
