In their continued search for an attacker to join their team, Leicester City is drawing nearer.

After Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall left Leicester City to rejoin Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, the Foxes are still getting over his devastating loss.

Since then, experienced attacker Bobby De Cordova-Reid has joined Steve Cooper’s team as they attempt to strengthen their midfield and attacking options ahead of the 2024–2025 Premier League season.

Issahaku Fatawu also secured a permanent contract following his outstanding loan period and noteworthy role in Leicester City’s Championship promotion.

In his recent pursuits of attackers, such as the Argentine Matias Soule, who chose to stay in Serie A and transfer from Juventus to Roma, Cooper has undoubtedly set high goals for himself.

Despite the Foxes’ unfortunate recent discussions with one South American gem, they have made progress with another, as it appears they have finally located a winger who is likely to sign before the upcoming campaign.

Yaser Asprilla, a winger from Colombia, is “on his way” to Leicester City.
Yaser Asprilla, a 20-year-old who plays for Watford and is Colombian, is supposedly close to joining Leicester City; according to Sebastien Denis on X, the player is “on his way” to Leicestershire.

In spite of a firm offer from Stade Rennais, the winger has decided to switch to the King Power.

The Foxes are now the front-runners to recruit the teenage attacker, despite reports that they would have to “fight it out with Champions League side Porto, whilst Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have also shown interest in signing the attacker.”

Estimated compensation for the young player with six Colombian caps is around £21 million.

Steve Cooper must work quickly to secure additional attacking forces.
The Foxes have struggled this summer transfer window, pursuing unachievable deals and thus lacking players on the field.

Although adding a few full-backs wouldn’t hurt, their defense appears strong; yet, the midfield and attack still need work.

Instead of allowing this deal drag on, closing a deal for Asprilla and not letting time get the better of them will provide much more opportunities to pursue other deals.

The fact that this deal might have a cascading impact on Leicester City’s future dealings and their pursuit of a midfield player this window, perhaps seriously impairing Cooper’s ambitions, is motivation enough for the Foxes to move quickly to pursue Asprilla.
