Brighton have built up a reputation in the Premier League for their smart and savvy transfer decisions.
The Seagulls generated £122.8million in profit in 2023-24 – the most of any Premier League team ever.
It came off the back of Brighton selling Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115million as well as the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Robert Sanchez.
Hailed as one of the best-run clubs in the league, Brighton are once again looking to take advantage of the summer window to strengthen Fabian Hurzeler’s squad.
Five new signings have already arrived at the Amex Stadium, including big-money deals for Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer.
They are now closing in on another summer deal – one which could see attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte leave on loan.
Facundo Buonanotte compared to Lionel Messi
Buonanotte enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2023-24, making 27 appearances in the Premier League under Roberto De Zerbi.
But Brighton are now ready to let the Argentine talent go out on loan to gather more experience, and Dutch side Feyenoord are reportedly closing in on a deal.
VoetbalPrimeur cite comments from Carlos Tevez, who once drew comparisons between Buonanotte and Lionel Messi.
Speaking about the Brighton star, Tevez said “The way he runs and accelerates reminds me of Messi. It’s been a long time since I watched someone who gives me so much pleasure.”
One to keep an eye on
Buonanotte didn’t set the Premier League alight during his time at Brighton, but he clearly has the potential to be a future star.
With a move to Rotterdam close to being finalised, Brighton fans will want to keep a close eye on the 19-year-old’s progress.
Minteh’s arrival this summer pushed him down the pecking order, but Brighton are clearly eager to keep him on their books.
