Leeds United is reportedly interested in signing another Dutch winger after losing Crysencio Summerville just one week before the Championship campaign begins. Summerville’s departure couldn’t have come at a worse time, with Leeds’ opening day match against Portsmouth only one week away. The Whites, who will be desperate to return to the Premier League after suffering playoff heartbreak the previous season, will be without both Archie Gray and their aforementioned talisman.

Those at Elland Road will be searching for solutions as they have the difficult chore of replacing Summerville in the next few weeks before the summer transfer window closes. It has been stated that they have focused on the Eredivisie in an effort to find a solution.

Leeds is now interested in recruiting Sontje Hansen from NEC Nijmegen this summer, but League One team Birmingham City is a rival, according to Sander Janssen of Voetbal International. This summer, Jannsen, a former winger for Ajax, may step up to fill the vacuum left by his fellow Dutchman.

Summerville might be replaced by “Special” Hansen.
If Leeds decides to make a move this month, replacing one Dutch star with another could be a good place for them to start. A closer look at Hansen suggests that he could end up being quite the coup for Leeds. After leaving Ajax in the summer, the right-winger has since shown signs of returning to form at Nijmegen, where he finished the previous season with six goals and four assists in the Eredivisie.

Given the prior endorsement by former Netherlands U17 coach Peter van der Veen, who stated via The Athletic: “You can see with your own eyes that he is special,” there is undoubtedly room for more. He is capable of playing as a No. 10, a striker, and on either wing. Right now, he’s really hot, and maybe that will continue. He still has a ways to go, but he has all the makings of a truly great player.

Summerville, who was Daniel Farke’s lucky charm for the majority of the previous season, possesses a similar ability to play down the middle. Hansen hasn’t yet reached the level of the new West Ham player, of course, but he may become a transfer marvel at Elland Road if given the chance to play in the Championship.

While Hansen, 22, may not have achieved Summerville’s stats, the fact that he exceeded his projected targets by a comparable amount indicates that Leeds is unquestionably headed in the right direction this summer.
