Following the departure of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham United, Wilfried Gnonto also seems to be on his toes for a move. Unlike last summer though, the winger isn’t keen on creating a scene at Elland Road.
Everton have been interested in the Italian since last summer. The Whites have even rejected a £23 million bid for the 20-year-old winger probably waiting for a higher one.
Last summer Wilfried created a scene at Elland Road because he wasn’t keen on playing in the Championship. The Italian’s agent submitted a transfer request on his behalf.
This request was promptly denied by the club stating their intentions of keeping him. After this incident, Willy stopped attending training sessions and told the manager that he “didn’t feel like he could make it to games”.
Leeds United took disciplinary action against the winger which cooled the situation a bit. The club even had a statement released regarding the situation.
The Toffees are yet to come back with an improved offer but sources claim that their interest isn’t dead yet. TEAMTalk’s transfer correspondent Fletcher Gillan claimed that even with an offer rejected Everton isn’t backing down from their plans.
Fletcher claims that other sources’ claims of Everton’s dead interest are wide of the mark. They will be coming back with an improved offer that Leeds can’t reject.
Unlike last time though Gnonto doesn’t seem interested in forcing his way out of Elland Road. This time he wants to do it with the consent of all parties so that it doesn’t cause him problems down the line.
Sean Dyche talked about the club’s finances after their bid was rejected by Leeds United.
However, Dyche also mentioned that they’ll have to be patient regarding transfers.
