Jaden Philogene has returned from England to Aston Villa. Under-21s will face “further medical assessment,” the Football Association has stated.
Ollie Watkins’ announcement earlier in the week that he had withdrawn from the senior team of Three Lions interim manager Lee Carsley gave Villa a scare. Unlike Philogene, who wasn’t considered fit enough, he had at least played in the 2-1 victory at Leicester prior to the international break.
The 22-year-old, who cost £18 million to sign when he left Hull City this summer, had reported for international duty in spite of the issue; however, the FA has declared his early release so that he can go back under the care of the club’s medics.
During the current break, the Young Lions, who are coached by Ben Futcher following Carsley’s promotion, are scheduled to play Austria and Northern Ireland. Sadly, Philogene, Harvey Elliott of Liverpool, Omari Hutchinson of Ipswich Town, and Sam Tickle of Wigan Athletic will not be participating.
Unai Emery gave an explanation for his winger’s absence following the most recent Premier League match. “He didn’t train after suffering a kick on Wednesday, but we were gradually considering the possibility that he would be ready for today. The Spaniard clarified, “In the end, he told us he couldn’t play with the same pain,” adding that he hoped his player would recover in time for Everton’s visit to Villa Park following the international break.
Leon Bailey, who was substituted off early in the game at King Power Stadium, was also nursing a problem following the match. After over a year away from the Jamaican national team, the 27-year-old was expected to make a comeback, but his hamstring issue proved to be too much of a setback.
