West Ham is about to finalize the permanent signing of a player who narrowly missed joining Manchester United earlier this year, according to Fabrizio Romano.

For West Ham, the summer transfer window was historic because NINE first-team players arrived.

Wes Foderingham, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Guido Rodriguez, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, and Niclas Fullkrug signed permanent contracts.

Leasing players Jean-Clair Todibo and Carlos Soler joined those seven players in the city of England.

At first, it seemed like Todibo, 24, was going to join with Manchester United. The French center defender was considered the perfect addition to strengthen the defense, and the fact that Man Utd and Nice are owned by the same company, INEOS, seemed to facilitate the transfer.

UEFA, however, prevented Manchester United from finalizing a deal that, according to Fabrizio Romano, was 99 percent complete.

Man United’s close call with Todibo
In the middle of July, Romano said, “Jean-Clair Todibo was 99 percent a new Manchester United player.” “Everything was completed, including the player’s end, but due to UEFA regulations, everything fell apart.

“Players cannot play for the same club in the same European competition due to FIFA’s ban on transfers. As a result, Manchester United made all the necessary arrangements to add Jean-Clair Todibo to their roster prior to the FA Cup final at Wembley.

There is nothing happening on right now. It is untrue that Manchester United would file a lawsuit for this one, despite some reports to the contrary.

“There is no chance; Manchester United has already withdrawn from the conversation regarding Todibo.” However, he was actually on the verge of joining Manchester United.

Because Man Utd and Nice will be playing in the same competition this season (the Europa League), UEFA has blocked the trade.

Players may be moved between clubs that are owned by the same entity, but not if they are participating in the same league.

After Man Utd withdrew, Juventus took over and focused on Leny Yoro and Matthijs De Ligt. But when Hammers sporting director Tim Steidten took advantage of Juventus’ move, he pulled off a stunning move.

In the end, Todibo agreed to a season-long loan deal with West Ham, subject to a purchase obligation.

In the game, conditional responsibilities have been more prevalent recently.

In fact, there is a condition in Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United to Chelsea that will come into play if Chelsea places 14th or better in the Premier League this year. It is extremely doubtful that Chelsea, even at their worst, will place 15th or lower.

Furthermore, West Ham’s conditional duty to acquire Todibo appears to be just as easily attainable, according to a recent report from Romano. Furthermore, the reporter asserted that it will be activated “soon.”

West Ham will “soon” finalize a permanent arrangement with Todibo.
The reliable source claimed on X that it is nearly certain that the obligation to buy clause (€40 million) in Jean-Clair Todibo’s West Ham contract from OGC Nice will be fulfilled.

“It will happen soon because, as has always been stated, the French center back is already a 100 percent West Ham player.”

The claimed value of Todibo’s clause is €40 million (about £34 million or $44 million). The conditions that will activate the provision have not been stated, but it is very certainly about to happen.

Todibo will be signed under the conditions he agreed to when he joined the team on loan after the clause is activated.

A five-year contract that expires in 2030 has been agreed upon (after the 2024–2025 season).

Only three senior center-halves are available for selection at this time, with West Ham pursuing Liverpool cult legend Toddibo. Julen Lopetegui is the next manager.

Angelo Ogbonna, Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma, and Nayef Aguerd were the four center halves that the Hammers let go, even though they signed Todibo and Max Kilman and kept Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Consequently, Kaelan Casey, a 19-year-old academy graduate, was benched during the team’s most recent 3-1 loss against Manchester City.

However, a number of sources claim that West Ham is considering a move for Joel Matip, a former center defender for Liverpool.

After undergoing surgery in December to repair an ACL injury, the 33-year-old has totally recovered. On June 30, he ended his eight-year tenure at Anfield, making him a free agent as well.

Matip can be signed and registered outside of the transfer window because he is available via free agency.
