Clinton Morrison, a former striker for Crystal Palace, believes Newcastle United will pursue Marc Guehi again in January.
Guehi was a target for Newcastle during the last month of the summer transfer season, but talks broke down because Palace wanted more than £70 million.

The England international was Eddie Howe’s top transfer target, which is why it was decided not to sign a replacement. This gives Morrison hope that the story is far from over. The value of Guehi is expected to decline as he approaches the final 18 months.

“I believe that Newcastle is the only Premier League team that could be dissatisfied with their transfer window,” stated Morrison, who played two stints of 309 games for the South London team.

In January, Newcastle may make a second attempt to sign Guehi. Eddie Howe’s desperation to sign him didn’t, in my opinion, prompt the ship to set sail. That he was unable to bring him in really disappointed him.

“Marc Guehi is an elite athlete.” He has demonstrated that on the global stage as well as week after week at Crystal Palace. He has been exceptional for several years now.

“I adore that he hasn’t allowed the rumors to color his performances. He’s had an incredible start to the Palace season. Considering that he has demonstrated that he is a player worthy of the Champions League, I believe the club will have trouble keeping him around for the long run.

“If they don’t try again in January, Guehi might have other offers on the table next summer. Newcastle missed out on him this summer.”

Morrison put his neck out there a week before the transfer deadline, claiming Guehi would “100%” come to St James’ Park. However, when a move didn’t happen, Morrison eventually apologized.

“I have to apologize because I came out here and said it was 100% done,” Morrison stated. You are aware that I am privy to insider information. I believed it to be completed 100% of the way.

“You have to understand that the goalposts in football shift. You know you’re in danger when you lose Joachim Andersen and your new signing, Chadi Riad, gets hurt. Two center halves, that is.”
