Lionel Messi was once again in action for Inter Miami last night as the Argentine international made a 30-minute cameo from the bench

Having played the full 90 against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, the Herons made the sensible decision to rest Messi initially at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as the 37-year-old entered the field just past the hour mark.

Messi will be disappointed with his performance after Atlanta managed to score a late equalizer to split the points in Georgia, despite Messi having opportunities to increase Inter Miami’s advantage.

Even yet, when Messi entered the game for Inter Miami, Atlanta supporters responded magnificently, even though he was playing away.

Atlanta crowd ‘went wild’ when Messi came on for Inter Miami.

When Messi was sent onto the field 61 minutes in, the Mercedes-Benz crowd reportedly “went wild,” with many of supporters pulling out their phones to snap selfies with the Inter Miami star as he made his debut on Five Stripes territory. This was reported by the Miami Herald.

Messi is one of the most well-known athletes in the world, so it should come as no surprise that Atlanta supporters went bananas when the Greatest of All Time joined the game last night. The Argentine is playing a few away MLS games this season.

As one of the largest stadiums in America, Mercedes-Benz drew 68,000 spectators last night, most of whom were probably hoping to catch a glimpse of Messi, who is now back in action for the Herons after a three-month absence.

The fact that fans saw Messi, who is undoubtedly the greatest forward to have ever played the game, will stay with them for the rest of their life even though the Inter Miami star was unable to make an impact on the match.
